The House Divided

Once a covenant
signed in stars
a nation born
through prison bars

A light for those
who dare to dream
now a broken facade –
a dying scream

America the beautiful
America the great
America Restored –
oh, how we wait

In God We Trust
yet how we’ve strayed
in the enemy’s name
lives are executed –
souls are slain

The House Divided
needs no invader
when the poison within
becomes crusader

no cannon’s fire
no foreign hand
We the People
scorch
this promised land

One Nation,
under God
indivisible
once claimed –
yet hatred, murder
and evil remain

God Bless America; the land I love
rotten to the core
the world I see
and now I know
there has to be
more

For a house divided
is a house that cannot stand –
a fall at the forfeit
of our very own hand.

  1. Hi Kait 🙂

I feel that you and I share a lot of interests (indeed).

When the attack on Charlie Kirk happened (for anyone not familiar with what I’m referring to, this is “trigger warning” material), I could not write about it (though). At the time (or rather: shortly thereafter) I was watching an episode of the JRE (with Charlie Sheen as guest). As is often the case, I find it difficult to stay awake through an entire episode, so I often break it up into pieces. Near the end (of the recording) the news about it came through … and I didn’t remember having seen that (yet after watching another time because I had learned they gave their immediate responses to the event).

This weekend I finally mustered up the courage to write about (or at least mention) it — sort of. If you feel like reading what I wrote (which has a lot more to do with freedom of speech than with the particular event) … oh, I almost forgot (LOL): see my latest post @ socio.business.blog 😉

    🙂 Norbert
